About the artwork

%u2018Strawberry Farm%u2019 was made following a family trip to the local berry-picking farm where I was struck by the jumble of shapes and textures in the nearby farm buildings. There was something about the conflicting diagonals, horizontals and verticals that I felt would translate well to an effective composition. I was also captivated by the sheer range of gorgeous textures in the corrugated iron, the hay bales, crumbling planks and rusted parts and machinery, grass and flowers springing up between the cracks and all against the dark backdrop of wooded hills. This is reflected in the variety of materials used to construct the plate - tape (masking, aluminum, sello), tissue paper, texture paste, acrylic paint, crackle paste, carborundum, paper, card and eggshells.
