About the artwork
My wood engraving of snails is an exploration of anxiety as a physical state, one%u2019s thoughts and feelings looping inward, curling, tightening, swirling slowly and steadily, inexorably gathering weight and pressure. The spiralling snails are to suggest a body carrying more than it can hold, suspended in a black, open space that evokes uncertain dreams and the feeling of being slightly untethered in the dark.
