About the artwork
This scene was inspired by the novel %u201CThe Road%u201D by Cormac McCarthy. Out of rubble, a father and son traverse a decimated landscape along a road that they hope leads to safety. The novel is set after an apocalyptic event, and it follows a father and son whose only hope is to reach the coast along a single road. I attempted to reflect the somber tone of this novel as the work represents an entirely current anxiety spurred by geopolitical tension and the byproducts of climate change. The work aims to challenge complacency and inaction towards said subjects, by attempting to record their reality.
