About the artwork
%u2018It%u2019s Late, It%u2019s Late, It%u2019s Late!%u2019 is a wood engraving depicting the wonderful Covered Market in Oxford. The scene is referencing time in several ways: the market was celebrating its 250th anniversary; the elderly woman is catching the final post; and Alice in Wonderland%u2019s White Rabbit%u2019s famous phrase is %u201CI%u2019m Late!%u201D. The vaulted ceiling and the converging lines of the market draws the viewer into a maze, almost like that Alice finds herself in!
