About the artwork

In my woodcuts, I use %u2018short%u2019 (= thick) oil-based ink. The various printing passes do not always align perfectly. I love the traces of the carving that have picked up just a little ink, thus showing a %u2018stain%u2019 in the print. This keeps the whole piece lively and spontaneous. Additionally, after all those layers of color are applied one over the other, a beautiful, almost %u2018painted%u2019 surface emerges, comparable to oil paint.
