About the artist

Helen Delany is a multimedia artist with a more recent shift to printmaking, studying mainly intaglio techniques, she has evolved an experimental/hybrid approach. Her new printmaking work presents a series of private moments drawn from a cinematic view of her personal life, ranging from a child%u2019s perspective to reflections and reminiscences in the present day. The work is informed by a particular vantage point from a life spent living in different cities; New York, Dublin, Rome and London. Having worked/taught in digital media since the early 1990s, her new body of conceptual work challenges the virtual world with selected artworks destined to remain eternally offline. Delany studied Visual Communication at Dublin's National College of Art & Design as well as Central Saint Martins, London, and Fine Art Printmaking at The School of Visual Arts in New York and Middlesex University, London.Delany co-founded an art practice called Electronic Sheep with Brenda Aherne in 1998 %u2013 they create textile art, tapestries, screen prints and films. The recipients of several awards and commissions, they exhibit regularly, most recently in Dublin, London, Paris and Jakarta. Delany is also a Lecturer at Middlesex University.

About the artwork

This hybrid print is part of a series called The Number Series. I collaged tetra pak drawings with aquatint etchings which fits with my interest in street art and DIY methods. In content, the print depicts old and new private memories deliberately obscured by the overlay.
