Artist statement
I am an artist specializing in relief printmaking. Carving a linoleum block is calming for me and is a time of reflection. When carving, I am intentional with each mark that I make. I like the texture and patterns that I achieve through carving. The process for printing a block is hands-on and unpredictable. It is exciting to never truly know what your print will look like until you pull it off the block. Inking a new block and pulling a print after all the carving is complete is so rewarding. There is nothing else quite like it.
Biography
Angela Risinger is a printmaker who resides in central Illinois. Ever since she was young, Angela has always had an interest in and appreciation for nature. This interest is reflected in her artwork and prints. Her work primarily focuses on birds and their behavior. They are such unique creatures that never cease to amaze her. Angela strives to capture the personality of each bird that she creates. In addition to birds, she explores other themes within nature, such as botanical work. Plants have fascinating patterns and shapes that she enjoys highlighting in her prints.
