Artist statement
With modest materials, working in two and three dimensions Thora´s practice explores how time, space, and matter interconnect in our lives. How our bodies, spaces, and mundane materials are bound up in time and in universal elements such as the iron, chalk, copper, and proteins inside us. Her practice observes and reflects our proximate surroundings and domestic but universal metamorphoses of energy and matter and attends to how we enter into daily rhythms and beats. Drafting plans, calendars, and maps, and to how our bodies move in patterns closely akin to our diagrams; from our unseen digestive system, its input and output, and our sexual drives to urban sewage systems to eternal celestial motion. How does all this %u2013 the architecture which envelops and channels both our intimate and public motions, the music in our ears, the mass-produced artefacts we are convinced we must possess in our domestic environment %u2013 manipulate our bodies and hours, our ephemeral existence, our being in the world?
