Jane Duke
1 work in Printmaking 2026
Artist statement
My work is intended to afford the viewer some of the peace and calm that comes from being outdoors and interacting with the natural world, especially when they might be unable to access it in real life. I work in reduction linoprint, using complex layers of translucent ink to create detailed, evocative scenes of woodland, footpaths, water and dappled shade.
Biography
Jane Duke is a printmaker who produces reduction linoprints in small editions in her studio in York. She came to printmaking from a background in watercolour and brought with her the practice of overlaying glazes to create colour and depth. Largely self-taught, she gratefully acknowledges the generosity of fellow printmakers in sharing their skills and advice. In 2015 she was one of the founder members of York Printmakers which has since grown into a wonderfully supportive and active community.
